Fife is perhaps best known for its historical industries of coal mining, fishing and the production of linoleum, for which Kirkcaldy was internationally famous. However, technology has long been a part of the business life of the county, in particular since the “Silicon Glen” boom during the later 20th century when many technology firms established a presence in Fife.
Today, the giant global tech company Amazon is a significant employer in Fife, with its distribution centre near Dunfermline.
